As far as I can remember I've only seen local folks busking in trams, but there might be people from other places as well, who knows.

There are Roms and Romanians too, but you mostly see them begging near churches, open-air markets and such. I used to walk by one such market almost every day, several years ago, and every Tuesday and Friday I would see the same faces. Eventually I changed my route - and I ended up walking past a black guy giving out free newspapers every single day for a good couple of weeks at least. It's interesting, when you think about it - we are used to seeing the Gypsies and the Romanians begging in the streets, the Vietnamese selling merchandise in markets and the Chinese preparing food in Chinese bars, but seeing a black person in the street still feels exotic.

How about you? Are there Roms and Romanians in Rome? :D
