Or at least nothing that would make me care. Come to think of it, the fundamental problem lies with the characters - if there's nobody to really care for, there's no way to care about what happens to them.

Oh, I tried watching it properly. I started every episode with at least some level of hope that perhaps this one would surprise me, but neither ever did. Normally I would stop watching after three episodes at most, but a friend of mine kept raving about how awesome this series is, so I kept trudging through it. And Solitaire was the only thing that made it at all bearable. XD

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the dragons. When they first appeared a the end of season 1, I said to myself "fuck this shit" and lost all hope for this series. I wouldn't mind if it went all-out high fantasy from the beginning, but such a mixture of mostly low fantasy with some pretty big high fantasy elements simply doesn't work for me.

The world you create has to have some ground rules, internal logic and consistency, otherwise it's just a mess. If a wall is said to be 800 feet tall but it looks more like 20 metres, then either somebody fucked up pretty hard, or they were using cat feet as a basis for their measurement units. If gold melts in a few seconds and a low temperature, then a hot summer day would be all that it takes to rid a ruling dynasty of their ornaments. And if a season can last a number of years in an unspecified range, then not only is long-term timekeeping an impossibility, but more importantly a planet that has such an unsteady axial tilt has no right to exist long enough for life to appear. If you want to have nonsense like that in your world, then go balls to the wall with it.

Spoiler: Boromir dies. XD
