Assuming that I DIDN'T CARE about the difference (XD), it's interesting to note that the whole thing is based on this duality: everyone thinks that dragons are extinct, the Wall is pretty much useless and there's no real "threat" behind the Wall-- Then you get to see that dragons can still hatch from their eggs (which are considered fossils), Giants exist , that there are zombies and the "wildlings" are getting organized in some army to attack Westeros... I think that the author is playing with both concept, merging them in something new yet familiar-- Just how Anno mixed orthodox and realistic mecha anime.
Different people would use different weapons If you want I repeat it-- Those are not "weapons" those are SWORDS XD It's canon, not my mere "assumption". Sometimes the "easier" option is not "wrong" just because it's simple. --Why are you so wary to the concept of "obvious" XD ?
Well, I'd say it was pretty valid reasoning, given their level of understanding of such matters. I'm not complaining about the reasoning, I'm complaining about the fact that IT WORKS LIKE THAT, and it applies only to the father's line. Lannisters are blond, Targaryens have blond hair and purple eyes, Tyrells have brown, curly hair, Starks have dark brown hair, Baratheons have black hair and blue eyes, Greyjoys have black hair and green eyes and so on-- I found it amusing that, though, as everyone was aware that Jeoffrey was a "Lannister" because he had blond hair, nobody wondered about why Sansa (and Robb, in the book) has red hair like her mother, instead of dark brown like the other Starks. For example, Robert Baratheon had 16 bastards sons, and he had them with all kind of women: they all have black hair and blue eyes. --I'd call it weird!
