So, yesterday I was browsing the internet, and I stumbled over the original Gundam (I mean Gundam 0079, the old one of the 70s) on streaming!
Since I never managed to watch this series properly, and I have only vague memories of it, TOTALLY UNFITTING A PROPER OTAKU, I decided to watch it all again :D
( No matter how many years pass, Char is always the hottest guy <3 )
I got to know that in this storyline Char was 20. Noa was 19 and Amuro 15.
--I decided that Noa and Amuro have a homosexual attraction made of rivalry and loyalty.
Watching this anime now, the characters can't help but remembering me of Israel. How everyone is a student or a random worker and then jumped on weapons when needed and turned out to be instant-soldiers ò__o
I can't help but have this predjudice about Israeli people because, when I was a young dark chick, I fangirled over this sort of gothic Israeli web pin-up on the internet, and when I got to know that in "real life" she was part of the border police force and talked about shooting at people like we do about weather, I got quite WTFed up ò_o
--I guess that's what happens when you are born and live in a country that knew nothing but war since it was created :/ Something that we lazyass who lived in peace and luxury are never aware of... And this series gives you this exact feeling.
The fact that in Gundam the enemies are not random aliens, but actual human beings just like the earthlings, makes everything sadder, and realistic, and somehow awesome for a "cartoon".
--And BTW, the emotional grip that this series has can't be compared to that of all the last crappy versions (from Gundam Wing onwards-- but that's what I watched besides this one XD).
The only bad thing is that I found the version with the dubbing of 1980.
It means that many parts of the dialogues don't make any sense XDD
Like when Sayla slaps the blue-haired guy (don't make me look over Wikipedia what's his name again--) and he said something like "I know you hate me 'cause I'm better than you at school D< !" and I just lolled so loudly that my parents wondered what was happening and cam to check on me XDD
...Fun fact, unless I buy the smartass DVD collection released on 2004 with the new dubbing and faithful arrangements, I'd never know what the original lines were XD
