Well, he started to write the novels WAY BEFORE the TV adaptation, so I don't think that he's trolling the producers-- He's pretty much trolling his readers, though XD But I like where this trolling is going--! Anyway I didn't know that he had troubles with the TV rendition, I didn't care to get to know more about it, but I heard that the author was liking what they were doing with the TV series... Even if in my opinion the book is better, but that's a given the most of times...
