Between the supposly innacutate depiction of Pirate England in episode 10, the Engrish in Cleaning out the Storage, and this, I'm pretty sure they just don't care. I mean, you could have just drawn the Roman Colliseam and it would have worked.
I, like, watched it 5 times, and the first i didn't notice a thing, then i kept thinking 'wait, there's something suspicious here'. i blame japan's cuteness that blinded me.

I knew it! It didn't set right with me since i was taught about that building in Art History! Not to mention my teacher went there to that exact town in Italy. She also told us a funny story when she was tricked into hang gliding over the town.

The Japanese can draw a dollar bill with the utmost precision, but when it comes to factual correctness you can never depend on them. :D But oh well, at least they didn't draw the Leaning Tower of Pisa at a 45 degree angle. Or a fully restored Colosseum. Or a spaghetti eating contest held in the Circus Maximus. Or... well, you catch my drift. XD
But that was just one episode - Poland has an entire three-volume manga by Riyoko Ikeda. :D At least she listed all the changes she deliberately made to the actual history, but still - all the dead Polish historians are turning in their graves to this day. :D
