I sweat like a pig, there's nothing cool on TV and I started to get bi-coloured-- IT MUST BE SUMMER!
My most hated season comes with new anime releases!
Here's my TO-WATCH list for this year. My picks are those CIRCLED IN RED. An ? marks the series that I may consider to watch if I find them intriguing enough.
--I may also consider to watch those marked with >3>, but those series feel very easy to bring me down if not well-done >_>;

So, the third series of Natsume Yuujin Cho ♥, Nyanpire and N°6 are definitely there :D What about you guys?

As usual, original chart comes from Chartfag :D

Yeah, that's what I mean! When people try to make remakes of classic stuff to make it more actual and cool, it's as if they remove all that good "soul" out of the original thing :/ !

I've never seen the 1988 OAV (supposedly it's nothing special), so I don't really care if the new versions remake it or whatnot. As for the manga, I'm only familiar with the first two volumes as the other two were never released here, so I can't really compare it to the new films/series.

The 2004 and 2008 films were okay but nothing I would care to see again and the weird graphics didn't help either. The pilot episode of the new series doesn't look any better, it's even slightly worse. But perhaps the plot will be better this time around, having more time to develop characters and events. We'll have to wait and see.

I'd like to hope the series will have a few of those "shock and awe" moments like the films did, that could actually be good enough a reason to watch it.

I'm not familiar with anything about this series, but I'm used to hear from my other otaku friends that the only thing that matters is the manga, which is awesome, and any movie/anime attempt failed miserably-- So I don't know XD But I'm not extremely intrigued by the genre perse.

I can only judge by the not so great*) 1998/99 Polish edition, but even despite its shortcomings I enjoyed it a lot and have fond memories of it after all these years. It's just too bad nobody ever released the whole thing - there were some talks in 2005 when the first film played in our cinemas, but nothing came out of it.

The films, well... They weren't bad per se, but nothing spectacular either. However, each of the two films has this one scene that made them worth watching: in the first film it's the hologram, in the second one it's the little girl in the street. I saw the first film in the cinema twice and both times during the hologram scene everyone in the audience was holding their breath, you could hear a pin drop; the second film I saw at home and the girl scene left me staring blankly at the screen with my jaw dropped for good 10-15 seconds. While I wouldn't recommend those films on their own merit, I would still say they are worth checking out just for those two scenes.

_______________
*) Only two out of four volumes were released, both split into two parts; volume 1 was split in the middle of a chapter; chapter titles were all removed with one or two exceptions; the dialogues were (quite faithfully) translated from the English edition; the paper quality was far from perfect; all pages were mirror-flipped; there were quite a few typos here and there. But the first part of volume 1 had these three pages, which was more than enough to convince me to buy it. XD BTW, this was the very first manga I've ever bought - all thanks to B&W drawn titties! XD

Both films can be obtained the usual way; as for the manga I can upload the whole thing for you if you'd like. :)

Okay! :) Just a word of warning - like pretty much everything by Masamune Shirow, this manga is rather full of futuristic technical jargon; but having read A Clockwork Orange I think you can handle it! XD
