Valar Morghulis, my readers!
I was supposed to make this post a while ago, right after the third season of The Game of Thrones was over, but some stuff (like me getting hold of a copy of A Feast for Crows XD) happened and I'm posting about it only now--

Of course, after all this time and all the things I spoiled myself with thanks to the book and its wikia, and obviously since EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT, this won't be a summary or a proper review of the book, but a just brainstorming made of fangirlness and vague thoughts in a random order--
• WHY I HATE THE LANNISTERS - I was intrigued when everyone on Facebook talked about this family about how deliciously evil and stunning they were-- To say the truth, I found them quite unnerving already, but once I saw them on screen, OH, GOOD LORD, TEH HAET.
These, my friends, are the kind of people I despise the most. Beautiful, rich and successful people who are too stupid for their own good but still think that they are the smartest of the bunch.
My least favourite is Cersei, expecially after I read about her in the book. A stupid bitch who thinks herself OH-SO-SMART when whatever she does is getting herself surrounded with useless persons (and obviously she does nothing but complaining about how everyone is soooo stupid) and looking dangerously like the husband that she despised oh-so-much (I'm anticipating that she's going to gain lots of weight XD).
She keeps complaining how she never had the chance to prove her worth because she was a woman, and that power was just what she was made for, but she couldn't even educate her retarded sons (not Myrcella, she had the luck to leave those demented in King's Landings when she was a child) to general obviousness... A lioness my ass!
I also hate Tywin, that fellow fangirls find a charming old man with a great brain. FOR FUCK SAKE. After what he did to Tyrion's wife, and for the utter stupidity that he uses to judge his sons he totally deserved all the shit that happened to him.
I don't even like Tyrion, to be honest. It's true that he's sympathetic and kind to those that are considered outcasts (expecially if they have a pussy between their legs), but I'd dare to say that it's mostly because of his own disadventured for his deformed body... The way he tries to get out of troubles with the help of his father's money is all kind of pathetic.
I'd dare to say that the Lannister without their money are less than zero and that they are worth just how much they are willing to pay.
Jaime is stupid like a bucklet of shit, and despite the attempts to make him more "human" with the addition of random bad luck and tragedies in his life, I'm still wary about him. Surely he's still smarter than his sister.
By the way, when Locke cut his hand off, I FAPPED :D I WOULD HAVE DONE THAT BACK SINCE HE WAS A STARK'S PRISONER!
• THE STARK ARE STUPID - The Stark is definitely the most retarded family in the whole bunch.
Ned trusted the last person he was supposed to trust in the whole Westeros (=that asshole LittleFinger--UGH, I HATE THIS BASTARD SO MUCH MORE THAN THE LANNISTERS >_<#), Catlin is a retarded that kept on complaining about her husband duties (YANNO, HE'S THE LORD OF A FUCKING CASTLE, YOU BITCH) and did the most stupid things in the whole series (= freeing Jaime to get her daughters back), Robb, well, let's talk about marrying some random bitch when you're betrothed to the daughter of your very vital ally, Sansa, we all know how stupid she is, Arya feels all smartass and badass when she's nothing but a spoiled brat (she really let me down-- I liked her at first, but now all that shit about becoming a killer-- UGH.), and Brann wants to go beyond the Wall. Have fun.
• MY FAVOURITE CHARACTERS - After all that ranting you sure want to hear something nice now, right XD ?
My favourite family of the whole bunch is pretty much the Greyjoy. It's kind weird, 'cause when I was musing with some friends about the various sigils, I said that the Greyjoy's was the one I liked the most (it shows a golden kraken, my friends-- I FUCKING LOVE SEA MONSTERS, and kraken are my favourites of the lot ;_; <3) and they replied "LOL, they are pitiful"-- Since most of them were Lannister and Stark fans now I know that they were saying a bunch of shit XD
Of course the word "pitiful" fits to a T to Theon, who is the character that house Greyjoy tends to be identified with. But let's be honest, Theon is nothing but a Stark, the furthest thing from a Greyjoy, he admitted it himself.
I pretty much love all the ironmen: people born on a shitty island that instead of whining and complaining about their misfortunes turned their troubles into their strenght. Strong-willed bastards who are not afraid of pain because it makes you stronger, people who are not afraid to die because "what is dead may never die"∼
Of their bunch, my favourite character are Asha (Yara in the TV series), and Theon's uncles, Victarion ans Euron.
Where Victarion is serious and dutiful, Euron is wicked and "wild", and I really love these two together ;_; I'd love to find some good porn about them, but whatever slash fic I find, it's always hatesex (and with good reason) XDD
Like every sane person in this fandom, I also love cute Daenerys ♥ I think that her whereabouts are quite interesting, and the whole dragon thing is AAASDSDGFDHFGH.
--At the end of season 3 she looked a bit more like some rockstar than a (warrior?) princess, but well, that's it XD
Another favourite character of mine is the Hound ;_; Talking about outcasts and people who never had a chance to be happy, I think that he deserves WAY MORE sympathy than Tyrion :/
• I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP - As I was telling you, I'm a supporter of Euron/Victarion (of course big bro tops!), also if I'm quite aware that this is not going to end as well as Itachi/Sasuke XD I admit that I have a soft spot for Vyseris/Daenerys (and here I doubt my sanity XD) and I WOULD HAVE REALLY REALLY LIKED SOME SANDOR (=The Hound)/SANSA ACTION ;____;... I also shipped Robb/Theon quite happily before all that mess with the Greyjoy-- I admit that I'd like to ship Ramsey/Theon too, but Ramsey is too fucking insane to picture him in a healthy relationship with whoever (he makes me think of Katsuya from Kaiji!!! C'mon, he's JUST HIM!!!)...What else, what else-- Stannis/Gendry XDD ? I find Stannis quite hot ;_; Too bad that she's probably even more stupid than Jaime ;_;
And well, this short delirium is over XD
See you again for a more proper post next time XD

If you want I repeat it-- Those are not "weapons" those are SWORDS XD It's canon, not my mere "assumption".
Sometimes the "easier" option is not "wrong" just because it's simple.
--Why are you so wary to the concept of "obvious" XD ?
Well, I'd say it was pretty valid reasoning, given their level of understanding of such matters.
I'm not complaining about the reasoning, I'm complaining about the fact that IT WORKS LIKE THAT, and it applies only to the father's line.
Lannisters are blond, Targaryens have blond hair and purple eyes, Tyrells have brown, curly hair, Starks have dark brown hair, Baratheons have black hair and blue eyes, Greyjoys have black hair and green eyes and so on-- I found it amusing that, though, as everyone was aware that Jeoffrey was a "Lannister" because he had blond hair, nobody wondered about why Sansa (and Robb, in the book) has red hair like her mother, instead of dark brown like the other Starks.
For example, Robert Baratheon had 16 bastards sons, and he had them with all kind of women: they all have black hair and blue eyes. --I'd call it weird!

Date: 22/6/13 21:47 (UTC)Or maybe he was just trolling. Which is likely, seeing how he intentionally set out to write something unfilmable, after all his various TV scripts were rejected.
Those are not "weapons" those are SWORDS XD
Are you really implying that a sword is not a weapon?
Sometimes the "easier" option is not "wrong" just because it's simple.
But assumptions are by definition unquestioning and baseless. Deciding that something is correct without backing it up with anything just because it's easier spells "lazy" and potentially leads to dangerous places.
Why are you so wary to the concept of "obvious" XD ?
Because the bigger our knowledge, the less obvious things are - and the only way to expand our knowledge is to question the obvious.
I'm complaining about the fact that IT WORKS LIKE THAT, and it applies only to the father's line
Blame the author for not thinking things through. Maybe they thought that red and dark brown is close enough, but blond and black is too different? Ah, who cares, they're all going to get killed sooner or later. XD

Date: 23/6/13 10:29 (UTC)Anyway I didn't know that he had troubles with the TV rendition, I didn't care to get to know more about it, but I heard that the author was liking what they were doing with the TV series... Even if in my opinion the book is better, but that's a given the most of times...
Ahahah, naaah, you won't drag me in your pointless discussion about fucking epistemology, man! I quit that stuff when I was in high school and I regret nothing!
I don't see what's your point over this throne, since this is the subject of this discussion, not some kind of existential philosophy!
IT WAS MADE WITH THE SWORDS OF THE DRAGON KING'S ENEMIES.
This is how the story goes.
Full stop.
Then if the granpa of Ned Stark preferred battling with an axe instead of a sword, that's his business: the throne is made of swords, and that's it!

Date: 23/6/13 12:13 (UTC)The point is, there are various kinds of sword and any warrior can carry a blade of any size, depending on his size, strength and fighting style. So if one guy used a claymore and another had a broadsword, then the former would be more suitable for the back of the throne and the latter for the armrest.

Date: 23/6/13 12:34 (UTC)Speaking of HBO, I must remember to watch the Soprano's, tonight XD
The point is, there are various kinds of sword and any warrior can carry a blade of any size
Yes, and what's your point..?
You were pointing out that it was called "iron throne" because it was implied that it was made of "iron" and not swords exclusively, then when I say that the book refers to swords you say that there are different kind of swords... What the hell do you want from me XD ?
no subject
Date: 23/6/13 13:01 (UTC)Hey, you called it "throne of swords" and were prejudiced against knives, remember? XD I pointed out that it's called the "Iron Throne" and that varying types of bladed weapons could've been used in making it, thus accounting for the difference in sizes between the armrests and the seat. I want you to acknowledge that it's more likely and plausible that the conquered enemies of the Dragon King carried different blades, which were then slapped together to make the throne, than it is that there's one standard issue model of sword in this world and the Dragon King had to go out of his way to shape them into something more or less comfortable, DAMMIT! XD And also that there is only one Dragon King. XD

Date: 23/6/13 13:31 (UTC)And I was making fun of your detail-oriented way of looking at things, there was no need to bother me with all these words to prove a point that made no sense since the beginning XD
And it's not like the Dragon King fought every warrior and just COLLECTED their WEAPONS OF CHOICE, he kicked their asses and forced them to surrender at King's Landing, presenting their swords as a sign of obedience XD !

Date: 23/6/13 13:54 (UTC)Translations have that nasty habit of being inaccurate, unfortunately. Polish translations of film titles are the prime example of this. XD
he kicked their asses and forced them to surrender at King's Landing, presenting their swords as a sign of obedience XD !
And they didn't go through their weapons closet to present him with their standard-sized ceremonial swords, they gave him whatever they had on them at the moment. And they each had different blades. XD
Seriously, how am I going to convince anyone that I don't like this series, now that I'm arguing sword sizes and the art of throne making? XD

Date: 23/6/13 15:00 (UTC)And they didn't go through their weapons closet to present him with their standard-sized ceremonial swords
They did exactly this. Everyone brought their pretty sword to King's Landing, to present it to their new king XD !
Don't worry, you're uninformed enough to pass for someone who watched the series and thought shit of it XD *pats shoulder*

Date: 23/6/13 15:24 (UTC)Really? Okay, fair enough. But still, I highly doubt that even shiny ceremonial swords came in one size only. XD
Why, thank you! XD
