Back in Rome and back in action.
Yesterday I managed to take another nice tour of the Capital, looking for materials for my Rome blog.

Before updating that poor, neglected blog, I'd like to share some shots with you, and talk a bit about yesterday whereabouts ;D

Above you can see a typical scene from Trastevere... It's very "Southern-Italy" x'DD
We're granted a few days of sun again after a series of absurd storms and constant rain, and the best picture to give you this idea of "longing for the sun" is definitely the one that you can see above-- People profitting of the nice day to dry their clothes properly.

I took a walk in the center around the places that Caravaggio used to associate with in his daily life. I'm a huge fan of this painter, so discovering bits about his life in Rome has been quite fun.
I used as a reference for my walk (and my future post) this itinerary created to celebrate the 400 years of Caravaggio's death. Unfortunately I couldn't attend the guided tours because of work, back when it was properly proposed =_= but I was glad to see that both the itinerary and the historical/artistic explanations are still available, so I could do that by myself :D

After my walk I happened on Via della Fontanella Borghese, that holds a market of ancient and modern prints.
Crisis is a threat even for them. It was discouraging to see some of the stands closed or up for rent :/

I kept walking along Via del Corso, trying to grasp some of its vicious and naughty Baroque times from the buildings around...
The contrast between the marble of the churches and the roughed-up walls of the buildings is always awe inspiring-- Sometimes it makes me feel like travelling back in time ^_^ !

I took a peek inside Santa Maria del Popolo church, always on my quest for Caravaggio, but it's such an interesting church, you can talk about it for hours!
Here are a few shots of the funerary monuments inside:

The allegory of the "Imprisoned Death" is so cool XD It's a statue, and it's made of marble too.

A bit of Piazza del Popolo, the fancy decorations of Valadier's square.

I decided to have lunch at the lake in Villa Borghese park :D

For once I managed to take a clear picture of the Temple of Aesclepius without damn people crossing the lake with boats XDD
--The Casina del Lago used to be a tiny chalet for private use of the Borghese family... Now it's a coffee bar serving a close-by museum.
This is my favourite spot for eating, because of its lovely view, the benches placed in nice spots and, most importantly, a toilet XD

Yesterday I managed to visit two interesting photography exhibitions :D
One dedicated to the construction of the Ise Jingu and its matsuri sponsored by the usual Japan Foundation of Rome, and another dedicated to the Christian missions in Middle East at the Institut Français-- Both of them are free to access and very interesting!!

And that's all, see you again when I'll pimp the stuff that I mentioned above :P
(XD)
