Yes, it's set in an alternative timeline (it's pretty much the standard now-- TV series = AU, OVA = Universal Century), so you can enjoy it even without knowing about the other series-- Even if there are the usual hints and references for the experts XD
Ah, okay. I'm watching Death Note now (the 2015 live action series), after I'm done with that I'll move on to The Perfect Insider, but once I'm done with that perhaps I'll give Gundam a try!
No, I can't stand Japanese drama, it's official XD I'm still watching some just when it comes to review the historical ones about Nobunaga, but I can't stand the Japanese acting T^T
While I do agree that the Japanese tend to overact at times, this particular drama is acted pretty well in my opinion. At least check out the first episode, you might be pleasantly surprised.
Let me know what you thought! I'm currently two episodes from finishing the series and I'm really pleased with it thus far, especially since it doesn't follow the manga too closely, but rather takes the main points and puts its own spin on them. Oh, and L doesn't look like an owl sitting on a perch, thank goodness! XD
