Romics 2010 report!
2/10/10 23:36![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Ok guys, today I attended Romics 2010, an anime convention here in Rome :3

As I told you, I attended it mostly to see Riyoko Ikeda, a special guest and the protagonist of a long interview/tribute to celebrate the deluxe DVD re-edition of her most celebrated series Versailles no Bara∼
I went there with a co-worker and her friend --That obviously arrived ON LATE, making me miss some kickass musical dedicated to Mademoiselle Oscar ;_; BUUUUH! But I promised them that I wouldn't complain about it on my journal, so I'll stop for now XD --THANK YOU GUYS FOR KEEPING UP WITH MY OTAKU MOMENTS!

Since it was saturday, the place was crowded like hell :/

There was the same amount of stands, but for this edition I saw lots of food stands! Beside the classic places selling instant ramen, there were absolutely WTF thinglets, like this Sicilian stand selling typical pastries-- LOL, they were dressed like old-style mafia guys XD
(the pastries in the picture are the notorious "cannoli" ^^)

This year there was also a stand mantained by the Embassy of Japan in Italy.
They organized tiny events during the days of the convention. Among anime discussions, trips to Japan promotion and mini Japanese lessons, today there was this special "Kawaii Nails" moment. Practically, this woman practiced special manicure offering all kind of aesthetical treats to your nails.
As a special tribute to Mademoiselle Oscar, there was a set of fake nails decorated with tiny pink bows and jewels (you can spot it on the table, middle bottom of it). JUST CRAZY!
Now, to the main event, the tribute to Riyoko Ikeda.
The whole thing was more than two hours long and included an interview with Ikeda and some kind of talk-show with some special guests (and historian, a period costume-maker and an expert of cold steel fighting).
It's been awesome! Ikeda-sensei was very nice and replied to the questions (even the most stupid >_>) very kindly and nicely... Too bad there wasn't any autograph session ;_; I wanted a sketch of Mariko from Oniisama e... ;_;

Ikeda-sensei getting interviewed.
The guy on the left was the translator, the woman on the right one of the organizers of the event.
Ikeda-sensei talked about lots of things! The creation of the manga, her studies, her passion for Marie Antoinette, her diffiult times as a shojo mangaka and her family. It was really interesting!

The main interpreters (don't know who the guy who looks like a pirate is... Maybe Andrè?) of the musical posing during the giving of a special tribute to Ikeda-sensei by her fans.
My co-worker told me that she managed to watch the musical once and it was all kind of awesome. --And I couldn't watch it today! FOR FREE! BUUUUUUUH ;___;

This woman above is the singer of the first Italian OP of Versailles no Bara (well, among others).
She started to sing it and everyone went crazy and sang along XD Me too! LOL, we were an audience of old people, to know the lyrics XD
In case you wanna hear the song too, here's the whole thing on YouTube :3

In the convention there was a special stand dedicated to Oscar, as some kind of tiny museum--- I was impressed by these "phone book-sized" manga volumes >3>
Fufu! There's also the Takarazuka promotion XD
And now, some space for the cosplay :D

Not really a cosplay but-- Just Dae posing next to Sailor Moon XD The series is finally going to be released in actual manga volumes ('til now we just got it released on tiny Americal-like issues format) ;_; ...In the second pic, Nana and Hikaru from Time Bokan Series: Time Patrol Tai Otasukeman ;o; !!!! (LOL, just how old I am x'D)

Nobunaga and Azai from Sengoku Basara ;3;
I--I FAPPED. I seriously wanted to glomp the Nobunaga guy ;_;

I don't know who he was but he was freakin' SCARY o_o

The oldest cosplayer ever and a cute Grell :D

Alois and Sebastian ;3;

Kuroshitsuji again, LOL XD
From the right: Grell, Sailor Moon (LOL), Ciel and Madame Red :3
Of course there were lots of other awesome costumes and characters-- But I was too lazy to ask everyone or just run after them >3>
And to end this post--MY BUYINGS!

Ok, I didn't buy much. I'm sick of getting more and more Rei's figures, since they're really a bother to clean and keep in shape but-- I GAVE UP AND BUY ANOTHER.
Then, All Rounder Meguru has been licensed in Italy! YAY ;o; !!! I grabbed the first volume! Second volume is going to be released at the end of the month! I really hope that volume 3 will be released soon too ^o^ !!!
In the end, some pins: Southern Italy (Hetalia), "I Love YAOI" and Sebas-chan x3
And that's all ^_^ I hope you enjoyed the report!

Ce n'era un'altra puccissima in costume da bagno mentre si riposava sulla pedana --Ma costava 20 euro e mi sono rifiutata XD --Anche se ora un pò me ne sto pentendo ;3;

Date: 3/10/10 08:48 (UTC)I love The Rose of Versailles
Not many people have been exposed to it, but it's one of the best gender-bender anime/stories of all time. -_- the anime makes me tear up!
You did a good job controlling your wallet *envies your willpower*

Date: 3/10/10 13:37 (UTC)More than a good control, I'm keeping my money for an hypotethical trip to Japan for next year XD When I'll go there, I'll definitely go in RABID SHOPPER MODE >3>; !

Date: 3/10/10 17:52 (UTC)HAH! We had "Sailor Moon" in proper volumes all the way back in 1997! :D It was the second manga ever released in Poland AND I HAVE EVERY VOLUME! XD The biggest drawback, however, was the translation which was far from perfect - especially in the early volumes which were translated by a Japanese guy. XD (He was the founder of the publishing house, JPF - I guess in the early days they couldn't afford a professional translator.)
We also had this strange "Sailor Moon" anime-comic, where still frames from episodes were arranged in a typical comic-like fashion, accompanied by speech bubbles. I have some of those as well. XD

Date: 4/10/10 21:37 (UTC)At the time (I was still in middle school-- It's more than 16 years ago?) manga still wasn't as popular as today... They were published "reflected" (to keep the western way of reading) and released in typical 20/24 pages issues, like American comics... Anyway, they kept the rights for so long and never cared to release a proper manga edition.
Now this company bought it, and finally we'll get our proper Sailor Moon version ;_;
Yes, I remember the "anime comics"! We had a lots too XD

Date: 4/10/10 22:29 (UTC)And speaking of formats (yes, I'm going off on a tangent here, bear with me XD ), there were three peculiar cases, at least that I know of. Firstly, when "Evangelion" was released here, it came out in that American-style 32-pages "notebooks" as we call it, which lasted for the first six volumes. And since the length of the original volumes varied slightly, we would sometimes get an issue with the last chapter of one volume and the first chapter of the next volume. :D Eventually volumes 1-6 were re-released properly, but I didn't bother buying the same thing again; at least the first edition has bigger pages, which means you can see more details. :D (Also, it was the first manga to be released in Poland in the original right-to-left Japanese reading order.)
Then we got "Akira" - this one was split into 19 volumes about 120 (mirror-flipped) pages each, due to the length of the original six "bricks", and once again this meant that one volume of the Polish edition could have pages from two original volumes. They tried to bring it a little closer to the Japanese edition by introducing the "Akira boxes" - a cardboard boxes with the original covers for you to fold and glue, each one holding three volumes. It was a pretty nice touch, but it felt a little awkward since not every box would contain the entire story of its corresponding volume; plus volume 19 remained boxless. XD
And finally the weirdest thing - "Chirality", one of the six mangas released in the JPF Deluxe series. The first two volumes were all fine and dandy, but the third one was 18+. It was the first time JPF published adults-only stuff and they screwed it up big time - the third volume was released with a couple of pages simply not included; if you wanted to see the naughty bits you had to send them a photocopy of your ID proving you're the right age and they would then mail you the missing pages. Needless to say, people were kinda pissed. :D

Piuttosto, ringraziami per averti immortalato in tutta la tua stangosità, anvedi che foto che t'ho fatto! Certo, se poi non sbagliavo la messa a fuoco era anche meglio... ^_^;;

XDD
Due minuti fa stavo sbirciando il suo blog in italiano... Beh, proprio nel post più recente c'è scritto che non tollera chi tarda agli appuntamenti e chi si azzarda a darle buca. Per evitare di essere ignorati fino alla morte molto probabilmente dovremo procedere al rito dello yubitsume. Nel journal mi ha definito come "tuo amico" e non come "nostro amico" ;_;

Mi associo a Sigalit, ERI TU CHE TI PERDEVI.
